'Let's keep it going': De Minaur

"I love you guys. So much," an emotional Alex de Minaur said post-victory.

"There's nothing I want to do more than play well here in front of you guys here in Australia.

"Let's keep it going".

He then went on to write "No place like home" on the camera.

Demon does it: Wins in three sets to make the quarterfinals

Could you hear that "Let's go" from Alex de Minaur ring out from Melbourne Park? What about the rapturous applause from the home crowd?

The 25-year-old Aussie has booked his maiden Australian Open quarterfinal.

He defeated the young American Alex Michelsen in three sets 6-0, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

The tough news is his next match is against world number one Jannik Sinner, but that's a problem for a couple days' time.

Right now, it's all Demon time.

Demon to serve for the match

Alex de Minaur is serving for the match, up 5-3 in the third set.

Here we go.

Demon one game away from victory

Alex de Minaur held in that last game to make his lead 5-2 in the third set.

He's closing in on his maiden Australian Open quarterfinal now.

He's up 6-0, 7-6(7-5), 5-2.

De Minaur gets the break

Alex de Minaur gets the break to lead 4-2 in the third set.

He's now a couple of service games away from a quarterfinal. Not to get ahead of ourselves. Plenty of time left for this match to get another change in momentum.

Each Alex holds to keep things level in third set

It's 2-2 in this third set as each player has been able to put away their service games.

Will Alex de Minaur be able to get another break this set or will Alex Michelsen keep upping his game?

'Two different players out here': Hewitt on Michelsen

Lleyton Hewitt isn't talking about Alex de Minaur v Alex Michelsen when he says there are two very different players on court tonight, but rather the American we saw in the second set compared to the first.

"Michelsen, it's been two different players out here tonight. The end of that second set compared to how he came out at the start of the match, completely different," Hewitt said on Nine.

"So Alex did really well to fight him off there in the end (of the second set in the tie-break), he obviously got a little shaky trying to serve out that second set to go two sets to love.

"But apart from that, Alex came out with a fantastic mindset tonight, who's trying to keep Michelsen off balance and (he) used his redirection so well."
