Winners use speeches to lift marginalised communities in tense political climate

Shakira won Latin pop album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran and gave a powerful, short speech.

“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country,” she said.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars teamed up for a cover of California Dreamin’.

Later, SZA presented them with the award for best pop duo/group performance for Die With A Smile.

"Trans people are not invisible. ... The queer community deserves to be lifted up,” Gaga said in her speech.

Alicia Keys was awarded the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award “DEI is not a threat, it’s a gift,” she said in her speech, referencing diversity, equity and inclusion programs that have been scrapped recently by the US government and several major corporations.

The internet reacts to a pretty great Grammys

To  be fair, I think Diana Ross witnessed far more debauchery at Studio 54 than Charli xcx - or anyone alive - is capable of.

Kendrick leads the final 2025 Grammys tally with five wins

Across today's 94 awards (let's include the non-televised trophies), Kendrick Lamar received five wins - pumping his total tally up to 22.

It was also a great night for American country singer Sierra Ferrell who won all four of her nominations.

Here's the final tally of multiple award winners:

  • 5 wins: Kendrick Lamar
  • 4 wins: Sierra Ferrell
  • 3 wins: Beyoncé, Charli xcx, St. Vincent
  • 2 wins: Jon Batiste, Sabrina Carpenter, Gustavo Dudamel, Samara Joy, Mimu Succar and CeCe Winans
Billie Eilish opened tonight's show, but went home empty-handed

In all the excitement, I missed that Billie Eilish missed out on all seven of her nominations.

Considering how her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft is both a chart hit and critically acclaimed, it just goes to show how easily greatness can slip through.

But hey, she'll always have those record-breaking eight Hottest 100 placements. Plus, she's only an Tony and Emmy away from EGOT-ing at the age of 23!

Beyonce didn't just make history for herself

In winning album of the year with “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé has also  become the first Black woman to win the top prize in the 21st century.

The last was Lauryn Hill with “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” 26 years ago.

Before her was Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston.

That means Beyoncé is only the fourth Black woman to win album of the year at the Grammys.

Charli XCX performs medley of Brat songs

If you are new to the blog, we were bopping along earlier to Charli XCX's medley of Brat hits where she turned the Grammys stage into the club.

Now, we have the pictures to prove it.

A little detail we missed earlier amongst the chaos.

During the song Guess, Charli danced as hundreds of pairs of underwear rained down from above.

A message popped on the screen that read: "All unworn undergarments will be donated to survivors of domestic violence through I Support Girls".

Emotional reactions everywhere to Beyoncé's Album of the Year win

Jay-Z and Taylor Swift cheers, Lady Gaga cries and Beyhive across the world react to Beyoncé's win.

Most of the internet's reactions are too profanity-laded for me to include. But there's a lot of joy behind the swears, trust me!
