This is where we'll wrap up our live coverage of the North Queensland floods

We'll be back with you tomorrow.

ABC Emergency will broadcast regular warnings on ABC Radio. You can find more information, including a map of all the warnings, by clicking here.

Stay safe.

Six thousand properties will remain without power at Ingham tonight

Ergon spokesperson Emma Oliveri says about 6,000 customers remain without power at Ingham after the power station in the area was turned off due to rising floodwaters.

"It's going to be a long night or more for those customers, but we cannot restore power until crews know if there's been damage done to the equipment and it is safe to reconnect."

She says the organisation had proactively depowered areas impacted by the weather.

Ms Oliveri says crews from around the state have been called in to help, but travelling through the region has been difficult.

For example, Palm Island is without power but crews were unable to fly in today. Crews will attempt to reach the island tomorrow.

You can keep an eye on detailed outages across the region here.

Severe thunderstorm warning cancellation

The warning issued for the Herbert and Lower Burdekin earlier today has been cancelled.

"The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary," the Bureau of Meteorology warning says.

But the severe weather warning for the region remains in place.

And here is a wrap of all the flood warnings across Queensland that remain in place:

  • Flood Watch for parts of the Burdekin and Proserpine Catchments
  • Major Flood Warning for the Burdekin River
  • Major Flood Warning for the Haughton River Catchment
  • Major Flood Warning for the Herbert River
  • Major Flood Warning for the Ross and Bohle Rivers and Flood Warning for the Black River and Bluewater Creek
  • Moderate Flood Warning for the Tully River and Major Flood Warning for the Murray River

Heavy North Queensland rainfalls forecast through the night

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Matthew Bass says the weather system producing the rain continues to remain in place.

He says heavy falls have been recorded in the past nine hours, including:

  • 427mm at Paluma Range
  • 298mm Paradise Lagoon
  • 273mm Rollingstone
  • 204mm Upper Black River
  • 174mm Bluewater

"This trough system that's driving all the rain isn't really moving," Mr Bass says.

"It's still going to be in place through particularly that Cardwell to Townsville area overnight, we can expect much of these rainfall totals to continue into the night."

Queensland's premier urges residents to heed warnings of emergency services

Premier David Crisafulli says safety is a priority and North Queensland is yet to experience the worst of the flooding.

"If you get advice to leave, please heed it," Mr Crisafulli says.

"Because in the end houses and cars and furniture, that can all be replaced, your family can't," he says.

Authorities are warning residents in the Ross River "black zone" suburbs of Cluden, Hermit Park, Idalia, Oonoonba, Railway Estate and Rosslea to leave their homes, along with residents of Bluewater who have also been asked to evacuate.

Here's a look at the warnings across north Queensland

A severe thunderstorm warning is current for intense rainfall and life-threatening flash flooding.

Dangerous storms are currently around Paluma, where 291mm of rain has been recorded in the six hours to 4:15pm.

A severe weather warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall and damaging winds remains in place from Tully to Ayr. These conditions may continue into early next week.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns locally intense rainfall is likely between Cardwell and Yabulu, including Rollingstone, Paluma and Ingham, with 24-hour totals up to 500mm.

Heavy rain and flash flooding is possible between Cowley Beach and Giru, and inland to the far eastern Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, including Townsville and Tully.

It is not safe for residents to return to Bluewater or parts of Townsville around the Ross River black zone which is Cluden, Hermit, Idalia, Oonoonba, Railway Estate and Rosslea.

More north Queensland residents eligible for emergency payments

Earlier, we reported that personal Hardship Assistance has been activated for parts of Townsville and some Gordonvale addresses.

This has now been extended to eligible flood-affected residents in Hinchinbrook and Palm Island council areas.

Emergency payments of $180 are available, and up to $900 for a family of five or more.

"This funding will cover emergency essentials like food, clothing and medicine," disaster recovery minister Ann Leahy said.

"It can also assist those impacted with replacing damaged whitegoods, reconnecting services, and repairing damaged dwellings, depending on a person's eligibility."

Cassowary Coast, Hinchinbrook and Tablelands councils can also access financial support for their response and recovery efforts.

Townsville, Burdekin, Palm Island and Cairns councils have already accessed support.

Ross River Black Zone 'not safe to return'

Townsville's disaster management group says it's not safe to return to the suburbs of Cluden, Hermit Park, Idalia, Oonoonba, Railway Estate and Rosslea.

"Do not return to the area until advised it is safe to do so."

Here's the notice:

Investigation underway into woman's death in Ingham

Police say an investigation is underway into the flood-related death of a 63-year-old woman at Ingham this morning.

A State Emergency Service (SES) vessel was helping members of the public through floodwater when the vessel struck a tree and flipped at Rutledge Street at about 9:20am.

It was carrying six people, including SES volunteers and members of the public, police say.

A nearby member of the public was able to immediately assist five people safely into his vessel. None sustained serious injury.

Police say a short time later the sixth passenger from the vessel, a 63-year-old woman, was found dead nearby.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Townsville Airport says it will be open tomorrow

A spokesperson says the airport will open at 5:30am tomorrow to normal operations.

"We recommend that you continue to monitor the status of your flight before travelling to the airport," they say.

Motorists should use John Melton Black Drive or Halifax Street to enter the terminal precinct as Meenan Street is closed.

"If you are driving to or from Townsville Airport, please be careful on the roads."
