STUMPS: Australia 3-330 (Smith 120, Carey 139)

Another excellent day for Australia, ending it leading by 73 runs.

The game felt even at the start of play. Then Sri Lanka could've claimed to be on top at 3-91 just after lunch, but it's been all Australia since then.

Utter domination from Steve Smith, with Alex Carey upping the run rate just when Sri Lanka's bowlers felt like they might be on top.

Instead, Carey and Smith walk off the field to hearty applause after pummelling the bowlers all afternoon.

Time for an ice bath. For all of us.

We'll catch you back here tomorrow!

80th over - Lahiru Kumara will take us to stumps

Stump to stump stuff from the seamer. Carey is navigating it calmly.

Credit to Kumara, he's still trying his backside off.

FOUR! Carey ends the day with one last boundary, worked off his thigh.

79th over - Jayasuriya in the penultimate over

There's a shout for caught behind, but the ball did too much to find Smith's outside edge.

He clatters the next ball to deep cover for a single.

Carey sweeps. That single has been there for him all day.

78th over - Kumara continues

Carey drives. It's just drifting to stumps.

Two overs left after this one.

Drop and run from Smith to the off side.

One more over safely negotiated.

77th over - Smith facing Jayasuriya

He's just dropping the bat n front of the ball outside off.

Too far down leg and Smith works square for a single.

Carey adds one more on the reverse sweep. He's not afraid of hitting against the spin.

76th over - Sri Lanka trying one last burst of pace

Lahiru Kumara is coming back for an over at the end of the day.

There's a catcher just off the pitch on either side.

Carey can't get the runs flowing in this over.

WHACK! The last ball of the over is full outside off and Carey crushes it through extra cover. Just throwing the hands at it.

75th over - Carey almost comes unstuck

He goes for the reverse sweep against the spin of Jayasuriya. Carey top edges, but it balloons out of Kusal Mendis's reach as he runs around towards silly mid-off.

But the rest of the over is back to the usual stuff. Smith is really trying to preserve every ounce of energy he can between the wickets.

Support up on the fort
74th over - Ramesh Mendis comes again

There's an appeal for stumped, but Alex Carey's foot never left the crease.

He follows up with another reverse sweep for a single.

Smith sweeps again. And that's two more in the mid-wicket gap.

73rd over - Jayasuriya again

Beaten! A sensational ball spinning away and past Smith's outside edge. Smith gives him the thumbs up.

He follows with a full toss that Smith knocks down the ground for a single. And there's the inconsistency that has plagued this team.

Another sweep from Carey for one more. Only fatigue will defeat these guys as we head into the last 15 minutes.
