Thank you for joining us!

Well, that's it for the Matildas involvement in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup.

I think it's fair to say it didn't quite pan out as hoped.

Clare Hunt called the tournament a "wake up call."

It will certainly be interesting to see how the team responds when it takes on Korea in early April.

Until then, go well! Thank you for joining us.

Sermanni calls on Australia to 'step up'

Tom Sermanni is talking to Paramount Plus and he's sounding exasperated.

"We did more than enough to win the game and when you do that you've got to win the game," Sermanni said.

"Our frailties came through again and we lost another cheap, simple goal."

"I'm not disappointed with the effort, not disappointed with a lot of the football we played, but really disappointed by the outcome."

And he has a message for his players ahead of April's friendly matches against Korea.

FA has confirmed Sermanni will still be in charge for those games, but you have to assume that they will be his last.

"There are things to take away [from the SheBelieves Cup], but things to be asked by myself as head coach, but also by the players," Sermanni said

"Because ultimately, as a country, we've got to step up and start doing better at this level."

Hunt looking forward to the 'surety' a permanent coach will bring

It has been confirmed that interim coach Tom Sermanni will be in charge for the upcoming friendlies against Korea, but Clare Hunt is sounding eager for some managerial stability.

"We're looking to have a new coach come in at some point this year," Hunt told Paramount Plus.

"And then once we've got that surety from FA, we're ready to go."

Matildas still 'building' says Hunt

Back in the starting 11, Clare Hunt had a solid game at the back.

She's talking to Paramount Plus and is pinning today's defeat on her side's inability to take its early chances.

"It was frustrating that we didn't take our chances in the first half, we pressed well and had a lot of possession," Hunt said.

"We could have taken our opportunities early which would've given us a foot up in the competition.

"It's a little bit frustrating for us but good to get a goal in the second half."

But she says her team are now that little bit closer to finding it's best 11.

"I think for us we're still in a building phase," Hunt said.

"It's one year 'til the Asian Cup, it's good to get some squad rotation.

"I think everyone that's been in the squad has played near 90 minutes, so it's good to get players on the park and prepare everyone for the Asian Cup next year."

Where's the cutting edge?

64 final third entries today for the 'Tilies.

That's over double the amount that Colombia achieved.

However, they only resulted in nine Australian shots, with just one on target.

At the other end of the pitch, Colombia was direct.

Caicedo and Ramirez were incisive, Bondillo was effective.

12 shots and four on target for the South Americans.

Full-time: Matildas lose 2-1

The Matildas might feel hard done by with that one.

They created chances in the first half, but Colombia's streetwise, spoiling play ensured there weren't to be many in the second.

That's apart from Hayley Raso's deflected effort, which found the back of the net after some nice play from Mary Fowler and Charli Grant on the left.

Colombia's attackers, Linda Caicedo especially, were breathtaking to watch at times today.

Every time Caicedo had the ball, it felt like something was going to happen. She just seemed to dance and jink, breeze and flow through the Australian defence.

Australia's lack of such a player was abundantly clear, especially in that second half.

But ultimately, it was a hideous deflection that won the day for Colombia.

Captain Catalina Usme's long range effort pinged off Tash Prior, swirled high into the night sky, over Teagan Micah's outstretched hand and into the net.

It's a winless and, it has to be said, very disappointing SheBelieves Cup for Australia.

96' Another free-kick for Colombia

A clever, defence splitting pass into the box from Gory and Hunt almost gets on the end of it.

However, she's outpaced by the Colombian defence and pulls down her opponent.

The proceeding free-kick is leathered up field.

95' Now or never for the Matildas

It's last chance saloon stuff here for the Matildas.

Clear cut chances have been few and far between in this second half, and really, it doesn't feel like there'll be another.

Colombia is soaking up the seconds, taking its time, breaking up play.

92' Caicedo at it again

Linda Caicedo, so direct and purpopseful, is running at the Matildas once again.

She gets to the edge of the area, pulls it back and Reyes absolutely thumps it from 30 metres out.

It's a great hit, but just wide.

We have six minutes of added time to play.

90' Fowler freekick

It's a soft free kick, in all truth. But the Matildas will certainly take it at this stage.

Fowler is brought down in the final third and lofts the resulting free-kick into the box.

Giraldo punches it away and Colombia survive.
