That will do it for us

What a performance by NSW tonight.

I was expecting the Blues to win, but they were just so completely dominant in every facet of the game and played so much better than the conditions should have allowed them.

Two victories with a combined winning margin of 40 points feels pretty spot-on to be honest.

For Queensland, I don't know how they can fire back to avoid the clean sweep in Newcastle in two weeks' time, because they look completely outgunned.

There are concerns over the fitness of fullback Tamika Upton as well, which will only make things harder.

We'll be back to blog that final game on Thursday, May 29, one day after the men's series opener in Brisbane.

Olivia Kernick wins player of the match

A shock to absolutely no-one.

Check out this stat line (per NRL.com):

  • 2 tries
  • 1 try assist
  • 10 tackle breaks
  • 236 running metres
  • 99 post-contact metres
  • 21 hit-ups
  • 35 tackles (only 1 miss)
  • 70 minutes

Blues prop and Nine commentator Millie Elliott is also overjoyed after promising a nudie run if anyone other than her podcast co-host was named player of the match.

Pure joy for NSW
Scenes out in the middle

A bunch of young girls have been allowed onto the field and are sharing in the celebrations.

And they're getting some autographs from the superstars of the game.

Every player on this field is so dedicated to growing the women's game, and stuff like this really ensures they're role models and idols in the eyes of so many juniors around the country.

Clean sweep now the target

Ellie Johnston has had a dream debut series - playing a big part in both Blues' victories.

She spoke to ABC Sport's Kiana Takairangi.

"I'm still really shocked, I don't think it's hit me yet. To play alongside these amazing athletes is such a privilege.

"We want to get the clean sweep and get the job done."

Shellshocked Maroons skipper

Ali Brigginshaw looks distraught out there as she speaks to Channel Nine.

"New South Wales were just so strong and it's hard to stop them."

Brigginshaw reserves special praise for opposite number Jesse Southwell for her kicking game in particular.

"It felt like we were just coming out of trouble the whole game. We'll come back in Game III."

The NSW Blues have won their first Women's Origin series!

If the 32-12 victory in Game I was powerful, this 26-6 win by NSW has been a complete and utter domination.

The rain is hammering down as the siren sounds and the Blues pour onto the field to celebrate another emphatic performance.

Pure joy in blue jerseys across this rain-soaked, mud-stained SFS pitch, and misery in maroon.

Through the middle, on the flanks, in defence in attack — there was no part of the game the Blues didn't dominate tonight.

"I'm so proud of my mates, everyone killed it," Blues captain Isabelle Kelly tells Channel Nine.

"Every single person knew their role, every single person had confidence from the coach and believed in themselves."

Nothing can rain on Blues' parade

This is heading towards an incredibly impressive victory from the Blues.

They've scored most of their points straight under the sticks, and have been relentless in punishing the Maroons.

It's hard to see Queensland retaining the same side for Game III - and once again questions will be asked about Ali Brigginshaw's future.

But for now, the Blues will enjoy their moment in the sun (or rain).

66' The rain is hammering down again

Jesse Southwell keeps the pressure on Queensland with a grubber into the on-goal, cleaned up by Tarryn Aiken.

And then another one from a standing start after jinking past the defence on the last.

It feels like the Blues have at least one more try in them in the driving rain.

Olivia Kernick seals the game and player of the match

The NSW lock has been immense tonight.

This time she gets the ball in the middle of the field, breaks through Sienna Lofipo's tackle like she's not even there, shakes off two more Maroons and slams the ball down under the posts.

According to NRL.com, Kernick has already run for 197 metres, with a whopping 81 coming after contact.
