Thank you for joining us and thank you for having me

What an awesome couple of days of NRL action.

I'm calling it a night after six great games across two days, and I'm grateful for all the fantastic comments and interactions throughout.

You'll be back to your usual favourite bloggers next week, but while I've got you, thank you for reading ABC Sport stories and for joining us on the live coverage. It's a lot of fun to bring the sport news to you.

Mick Doyle is still around tonight and blogging the F1 if you care to keep him company, as Oscar Piastri goes for an historic win in Spain.

But until next time, goodnight and have an awesome week!

Match report: Youthful Raiders magic in victory over Roosters

Canberra's 'generation next' have stood tall in a come-from-behind 26-24 win over the Sydney Roosters that has further strengthened the Raiders' claims as genuine premiership contenders.

Without first-choice hooker Tom Starling (suspension) and Manly-bound halfback Jamal Fogarty (groin), the Raiders' youthful spine showed calmness and composure to run the Roosters down at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Debutant halfback Ethan Sanders didn't look out of place in his first game for the Raiders, while Owen Pattie kicked a 40/20 and set up a try with a clever grubber kick in what was arguably his finest NRL game to date.

Fullback Kaeo Weekes, who was the most senior member of the Raiders spine with just 42 NRL games to his name, then set up lively five-eighth Ethan Strange for the match-winning try with a bust from inside Canberra's half.

The win leaves the Raiders second with a 10-3 record.

"You look at our spine and I don't know what our average age was but the oldest is Kaeo at 23," said Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.

"Ethan Sanders in his first game answered what I can't find out in training or scrimmage or NSW Cup — and that's handling decisions quickly as a half in the NRL.

"You probably had a glimpse of our future there tonight."

Fogarty may return for next week's clash with South Sydney but Stuart indicated he may take a cautious approach with his veteran halfback.

"I'm not going to risk him. We have a bye after our next game and we really need it," Stuart said.

Without Fogarty, Canberra's attack was cumbersome for much of the first half and it took the Raiders 35 play-the-balls in the Roosters 20m zone before they found a way over the line through Xavier Savage in the 31st minute.

The Roosters led 12-4 at halftime courtesy of Mark Nawaqanitawase and James Tedesco tries and looked set to pull away when Daniel Tupou gave them a 10-point buffer in the 55th minute.

But the Raiders conjured two tries out of nowhere in four minutes.

First, rookie winger Savelio Tamale tiptoed the sideline and flung a speculative offload back infield for a supporting Hudson Young to crash over.

Then Pattie stabbed a grubber kick to the in-goal and captain Joe Tapine pounced on the loose ball.

Strange finished Weekes's 73rd minute break to open some breathing space for Canberra before Rob Toia nabbed a consolation try for the Roosters.

"I felt it was very self-inflicted in the amount of yardage errors we turned over," said Roosters coach Trent Robinson.

"Those errors just invited a really good team into our own half too much."

FT: The Raiders beat the Roosters 26-24!

The Raiders force the knock on by Victor Radley and they win the game! Unbelievable football!

It was part vaudeville, part gladiatorial, part circus, and part magical, and what we came out with in the end was a clash for the ages.

The highlights are going to be something out of this game, but off the top of my head, the first try from the Raiders as they flicked the ball quickly to each other was a favourite. The ridiculous pass from Savelio Tamale to get Hudson Young across was insane. The Daniel Tupou moment of madness that led to a try was ... something.

What a game, and what a fitting conclusion to Origin week.

78' TOIA'S IN FOR THE ROOSTERS!

This is ridiculous football!

The Roosters have the overlap and they should score, but for a moment it looks like Robert Toia has messed it up by going for it himself — he goes to ground, but gets up, and carries the Raiders defender with him as he scores!

The conversion is good and it's 26-24 in favour of the Raiders with 1:07 on the clock!

73' ETHAN STRANGE IS IN!

Oh my giddy aunt, that is absolute magic by Kaeo Weekes!

He takes the Roosters kick cleanly and then just tap dances around Roosters defenders, until he breaks clear in open air!

We want him to go himself, but he rightfully passes off to Strange and Strange scores!

The shirts are off in the crowd and the Green Machine is going off!

Somewhere I can hear ABC Sport's Nick Campton whimpering in joy.

65' Raiders cruelled by the bounce!

Oh the Raiders have the break as they go for it on the sixth tackle and the kick gives Kaeo Weekes first dibs on it! He's speeding away and should score!

But the ball bounces up high randomly just as he gets to it, and he overruns it!

That's just cruel.

62' Joe Tapine scores! Raiders lead!

It's Owen Pattie with the little kick through and he can almost go himself! But Tapine barrels through and he's the one that gets hands to it first!

The kick is good and the Raiders lead 20-18!

58' Hudson Young is in and I'm not sure how ...

Oh I see it now and it's just pure brilliance from Savelio Tamale!

Tamale is tackled by about four Roosters after hesitating to go for the try. Live, it looks like he's tackled out of bounds and the play is over, but the ball somehow pops out to Young, who scores.

On replay it shows that Tamale SOMEHOW managed to keep his left arm free in the tackle and hurled it back as he was being flung backwards over the sidelines.

It is brilliant!

53' Daniel Tupou is in but he takes his time doing it!

What the heck is going on in this game?

James Tedesco is the man that makes the break and the play eventually sees an open Tupou on the wing take off.

Xavier Savage chases him down and gets him to ground just inches from the line, but the momentum of Savage sees him slide off the tackle.

Tupou is free to just touch the ball down and score ... but he ... doesn't? He looks to the ref like he needs permission to do so, and while doing that, Hudson Young flies past and misses the tackle because he had clearly assumed — rightfully — that Tuopu was going to put the ball down.

So Tupou's moment of madness actually allows him to score.

It's Sunday night, it's the last game of the round, I've blogged five and half of these, and I'm losing my mind!

45' Simi Sasagi scores!

They're not taking that one off him!

He gets on the end of the dinky little kick and scores!

The kick rams into the uprights and the score is 12-8.
