But don't forget, the round isn't over!

Tomorrow afternoon the Bulldogs face the Eels, with Lachlan Galvin making his briefly awaited Canterbury debut.

The Berries were just knocked off top spot on the ladder by the Raiders today, so expect them to come out firing.

But before then, we'll have some State of Origin team news in the morning, with the Maroons naming their side at 9am tomorrow.

Stick with ABC Sport for all the latest news, reaction and analysis before tomorrow afternoon's live blog.

Jarome Luai admits it felt weird playing against Penrith

Tigers skipper Jarome Luai admits to ABC Sport that it felt "weird" to play against the likes of Nathan Cleary and the rest of the Panthers he won premierships with.

"It did, but I sort of brushed it when I got out there. What a battle."

Luai caught Nathan Cleary with a few big hits in the second half as the pair that have played together since they were kids finally faced off for the first time at NRL level.

"I love the battle. I love every tough challenge that comes my way, but at the end of the day he got the two points."

Luai says the Tigers have "a lot of work to do" to get over the hump of these close losses.

"It was a good test for us. I think it will be a good confidence boost for us because we could go toe to toe with these guys."

FULL-TIME: Penrith holds on for a tense 18-14 win over the Tigers

The Panthers hang on for a tough victory on an emotional night for both teams.

Penrith co-captain Isaah Yeo credits former teammate Jarome Luai for an impressive performance and says he owes Nathan Cleary a beer for throwing him a hospital pass that Luai read like a book and smashed his former teammate.

There were a couple of very physical clashes between Luai and Cleary, but ultimately Luai gave away two penalties that led directly to the Panthers' game-winning scores.

80' Desperate Tigers lose the ball and that will end it

The Tigers get the ball with 90 seconds left and 90 metres to go.

They're flinging the ball all over the place and eventually Sione Fainu's offload ends up in the hands of Penrith.

The Panthers are called for a knock-on, but it's actually just a clean turnover. And a successful challenge by the Penrith Panthers.

77' Nail-biting stuff

Tigers bomb, Bula gets it again, but he offloads back to Dylan Edwards.

Then Cleary tries a 40/20, but can't get the angle right.

And Luai tries a grubber in behind, but Tago gets back to it first.

Wild finish.

74' SCOTT SORENSEN WITH A MIRACLE TRY-SAVER!

The Tigers bomb and Jack Bird comes down with it, he pops ball to Jahream Bula, who sets sail for the tryline from 10 metres out, but somehow Scott Sorensen grabs him from behind and drags him down.

That is classic Sorensen and classic Penrith. Against any other team, Bula scores, but you just expect Penrith to come up with those plays in the big moments.

The Tigers aren't done yet!

I thought the Tigers were running out of puff, but they find some life thanks to a fresh set after a Nathan Cleary knock-on.

They spin it left on the last and Jarome Luai and Adam Doueihi sum up the overlap to send Jeral Skelton over with 10 minutes left.

Izack Tago was just a little too slow to release on Luai, and it cost them there.

Doueihi misses the conversion, so the Tigers still need a try to tie the game.

67' Jenkins's career night continues

Heath Mason is flying through on a bomb but Tom Jenkins flies over the top and comes down with it after some heavy contact. But he still gets up and flies upfield on a charge that may have just taken him over 200 run metres tonight.

Jenkins has a hat-trick for Penrith!

Off the penalty, Penrith run it on the last and spin it left, with Casey McLean getting his arms free and firing an offload to an unmarked Tom Jenkins to dive over for his third try of the night.

Once again the Luai penalty costs the Tigers points.

62' Luai concedes another penalty

The bomb goes up and Jarome Luai is penalised for getting into the path of Liam Martin as he chases through. Too obvious from Luai, and Martin lets his former teammate know all about it.
