Time to wrap this up

Well, it wasn't to be for George Kambosos tonight.

He tried his hardest, but his best was just not good enough against this classy young American. whose stock is rising and rising in the super lightweight division.

There was success for Teremoana Teremoana though, who announced himself as a genuine threat with yet another knockout victory, his eighth in eight pro fights.

This time, he beat an American who had won all nine of his fights before meeting the Cook Islander.

Tremendous stuff.

Thanks for being with us, we'll catch you again soon.

Unfortunately not

It was always going to be tough for Kambosos, but that was so slick from Hitchins.

The bigger man, the sharper man, the more confident fighter.

Very, very impressive.

Teofimo Lopez says he's open to a unification

He says, in the ring, "yeah, unification, let's do it".

If only it were that simple.

Kambosos 'a warrior'

"I fought a war, I'm a warrior," Kambosos says.

"He's a hell of a fighter.

"Like I've been saying. I chose greatness, I really believed in myself, I just didn't have it, he was just a bit too good for me tonight.

"Hey, he hit me with a beautiful body shot, I still got up at nine, 10, but the ref's got to do his job.

"I hope you guys appreciate the warrior that I am, and I fight the best.

He says that he just couldn't get inside to land the killer blow.

"It's the timing, I've had too many wars now, I just could't get the timing right.

"It is what it is.

"If all the boys fight each other you're gunna get wins, you're gunna get losses, draws, who gives a f*** man, forget the cherries."

Teofimo Lopez is going into the ring

As Teofimo Lopez, the WBO champion, steps into the ring, Hitchins continues.

"I want the big fights," he says.

"After my last fight I called out Teofimo straight away, but he had other plans, so I don't know what's next.

"Devin Haney, f*** you *******, let's fight!

Seems like he wants Devin Haney next.

Well there you go.

'I told his dad, "if you love your son, you should stop this fight"'

Here is the champion.

"Just over four years ago I was watching Teofimo and George in go to battle, somewhere up there in the stands, and I said when I get the chance, I would make the best of it," he says.

"The fight itself, I've been telling the boxing world I'm the truth.

"If you don't know Richardson Hitchins, now you know.

"I've been telling the boxing world I've been coming, and they should have listened, now I'm here.

"I told his dad, if you love your son, you should stop this fight

"He was tough, a true competitor, but I was the better man tonight."

Hitchins wins by TKO in the eighth

The official time is 2:33 in the eighth.

The two fighters hug in the centre of the ring.

Only one of them looks like he's been in a fight, to be honest.

That was a masterclass.

Hitchins vs Kambosos, Round 8

Hitchins covers up nicely as he edges in.

He looks very focused this round.

BANG! Hitchins smashes a left hook!

He is looking for a knockout.

Hitchins is swinging hard, another right hook just misses this time.

Upper cut from Hitchins, but one comes back from Kambosos.

Kambosos counters nicely to the body.

And another shot to the body, a right hook this time.

Hitchins lands with that jab though.

Hitchins asks Kambosos' corner if he wants to continue! That's confidence.

DOWN GOES KAMBOSOS!

A body shot that sinks Kambosos!

IT'S OVER!

Hitchins vs Kambosos, Round 7

Kambosos makes it past round six, but only a charitable judge would have given him a round or two in this fight so far.

Hitchins flashes the jab again, just short.

Hitchins lost his way a bit that last round and has gone back to basics.

Great right from Hitchins there has Kambosos scampering across the ring.

That jabs still flashes from Hitchins but the timing is not quite there at the moment.

Kambosos shots carry power and Hitchins leans back against the ropes.

Hitchins is poise for the counter, but Kambosos lands to the body there.

Hitchins takes a shot on the guard, a swinging right.

Kambosos just doesn't have the accuracy or penetration with his shots.

Good body shot from the American has Kambosos hunched over and the blows rain down on him as the ball rings.

Hitchins vs Kambosos, Round 6

Kambosos comes out for the round but comes in and gets hunched over straight away as he comes in.

Kambosos is still fighting.

Oh good right from Kambosos! He then slips over, showing it was a bit of a glancing blow, but had that landed flush it could have been every interesting.

Hitchins is landing some jabs to the body, and Kambosos is subconciously protecting himself by hunching more than he used to.

Good right from Kambosos, and then a good right to the body.

Blood from the mouth of Hitchins! That's a good shot.

Hitchins tries an upper cut, Kambosos does too and both miss.

Kambosos chats away to Hitchins, growing in confidence.

Over the top from Kambosos, and a jab to the head.

Good body shot from Kambosos there!

This is a good round from Kambosos!

Hitchins jabs a couple of shots as the bell rings (and just after it, in truth) but that was a lot better from Kambosos.
