Morgan Knowles is taking to the BBC.

He's very disappointed.

"It was tough. We didn't help ourselves, and we probably did well going in 8-0 at half-time," he says.

"It probably took it out of us too much. Second half we just weren't good enough, and we will have to look at that during the week going into the second Test.

"We will take confidence from the fact we still created opportunities. There are positives, but the overriding feeling is disappointment. We need to be a lot better.

"We didn't give our best account of ourselves - really disappointing.

"They're a good team with loads of good players, but so are we. They get built up and put on a pedestal, but we're not that far behind them. We know we can compete."

Cameron Munster is under no illusions that Australia will need to improve.

"Look, at times England played some good footy, we just scrambled really well in defence," he says on the BBC.

"It could have been a different scoreline at half-time. 

"We've been a bit lucky tonight. 

"We need to get better and they're going to get better.

"They're very strong and they get into that grinding game of footy. 

"We took our opportunities tonight but I'm sure England will do the same next week."

Reece Walsh is talking to the BBC now.

He is talking his coach's language by saying he's happier with his defence than the attack.

"It was pretty surreal for myself being at Wembley, being among world-class players. We definitely got the support from everyone who's here to support us," he says.

"I'm probably happier with the two tries I stopped

"I think that goes a long way to getting the result tonight. 

"They got that late try there that we're pretty disappointed with. 

"But we'll work hard during the week and try to get that stuff right."

England coach Shaun Wane is not happy.

He shouldn't be, either.

"Our end of sets were poor," he says on the BBC. 

"The best team won, Australia. 

"They made how many line breaks and scored. We made line breaks and didn't score. 

"We weren't clinical enough, but the positive thing is we can correct that. We can be miles better than that and that's what we aim to do.

"International sport, that's it. I have learned from coaching in the Super League you can't make errors. If you have a chance to score you have to score.

"I thought our physicality was good and our effort was good, but our finishing end of sets, the way we kicked - all the things that have a huge affect on your energy.

"We made line breaks, but not enough. When you turn the ball over on play three and four, making extra tackles, but all of a sudden you're gassed and you can't attack the same."

"It was cool to come out here at Wembley in front of a good crowd," Angus Crichton tells the BBC.

"We were really scrappy, but what I did like was our gritty attitude. We worked hard for each other.

"I should have had more [tries] if I wasn't headbutting the ball. It is always nice to get across the line."

He also mentioned that the crowd was a bit, nice.

He doesn't expect the same to be said when the series moves north into the nation's rugby league heartland.

"They will be mad," he says. 

"They will be a bit more rogue than these guys."

And to think I had bought into the idea that England would be better than we expected.

Well, aside from the injury to Isaah Yeo, I don't think that could have gone much better for Australia.

Reece Walsh showed that his best is just as good in the Test arena as it is in the Origin sphere and the NRL.

While England showed, well, not much really.

It was an insipid performance that lacked any sort of aggression that I had expected.

Instead of meeting fire with fire, the English forwards got out their water pistols and tried to use that to still the power running of the big forwards, who didn't really need to get out for second gear to show their superiority.

Welsby had to race to the left as the ball hooked towards the line.

He wildly passes the ball inside as he's smashed into the front row of seats at Wembley.

Fortunately Dom Young is there, and he's rag dolled into the dead ball.

Oh what has sparked that?

Aside from England being destroyed in every facet of the match on home turf.

Dom Young and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui are still into each other.

One of the England players has a bit of a shiner, but that could have come from anything to be honest.

It's the first bit of fight that any of the English have really shown all game - and that it's come from a back who plays in the NRL is a damning indictment on the English efforts.

Daryl Clark muscles his way over the line from close range.

The Australian defence finally bends a little and the Aussies will be disappointed by that.

The kick from Lewis is good and an ounce of respectability has been restored.
