Intended target still a focus in the investigation

When asked if police were looking at the "intended target", Superintendent Box said it was something investigators were looking into.

"I've said previously we're looking at anyone in the area, any other persons that might fit the profile."

'Other lines of inquiry might open up' after charges

Now that three men have been charged over the murder, Superintendent Box said detectives would still be investigating all lines of inquiry.

"We will see if there are any other persons that have been involved in the periphery, and we'll continue to look at that as part of the investigation," he said.

"Other lines of inquiry might open up."

Shooting victim had no known criminal links

Superintendent Box reiterated that cleanskin plumber John Versace had no known criminal connections

"There is nothing at all to suggest that Mr Versace was anything but a hardworking young man, living at home with his family, was much loved and trying to set himself up for the rest of his life.

"Nothing at all would suggest any links to any criminal entities at all."

Alleged gunman known to police

When asked if the alleged gunman is "well known to police", Superintendent Box confirmed he was known to authorities.

"He's also known to associate with organised crime," Superintendent Box said.

'Still a long way to go' say police

"I wish to acknowledge the great work that has been done by the strike force," Superintendent Box said of Taskforce Falcon detectives.

"They have worked tirelessly and they have identified the three persons charged, [and] put them before the courts."

Superintendent Box noted there was still "a long way to go" in the case.

Third person charged in relation to the murder

Superintendent Box is now speaking about the 21-year-old man charged over the murder of John Versace.

"This is the third person who has been charged in relation to the murder of Mr Versace."

Superintendent Box says police believe the 21-year-old is the alleged gunman.
