Thank you and goodnight!

We're getting out of here but on behalf of Dan, Al, Shauna and myself THANK YOU for joining us for today's Hottest 100 countdown.

It's a privilege and joy to share in this wonderful community of music lovers.

See you here this time next year!

Happy Hottest to all!

Gosh, what a rush. We will need some decompression time to unpack the past eight-ish hours of hottest 100 hits.

I'm very happy Olivia Dean took the top spot — the third solo female artist to do so in recent years.

I'm also stoked to see that more than half of the songs were Australian after last year’s worrying representation. Particularly, Tame Impala and Ninajirachi, who were in my own voting list.

Only had three make the cut… And no Geese!?!? But hey, there’s always the Hottest 200-101 next week.

Thanks for joining us for all the Hottest 100 action. It's always a pleasure to be part of radio’s biggest event.

Plus, special thanks to my ace colleagues Velvet Winter, Dan Condon and Shauna Foley and the triple j digi team. Love all your work.

OK, I’m outta here for a celebrity beverage. See you here same time next year?

More than half of the Hottest 100 was homegrown

There was a healthy showing of Australian talent this year: 54 homegrown songs to be precise, thumping last year's 29 and closer to previous 2020s countdowns (52 in 2023, 57 in 2022, 54 in 2021 and 66 in 2020).

The inclusion of an Australian artist filter to assist shortlists in the voting process, and the afterglow of last year's Hottest 100 of Australian Songs, have combined for an impressive showing for the Australian music scene from around the country.

Here's triple j's Courtney Fry diving into the topic:

Almost $600k raised for We Are Mobilise

YOU BEAUTY!

A whopping $588,000 has been raised for We Are Mobilise, and that's gonna help thousands of people currently experiencing homelessness.

The love doesn't stop there, you can still make that number rise even higher below.

Building the Man I Need

It's been stuck in our heads for a long time and now Olivia Dean's Man I Need is your #1 song of 2025!

Triple j's Courtney Fry has done a dive deep into what makes this tune such an earworm.

Olivia Dean says topping Hottest 100 is "kinda crazy"

More than 2 million votes have been cast and the nation has spoken: Man I Need is the hottest song of 2025

"Oh my god, guys. What the hell? Well, thank you Australia, love you," a very chuffed Olivia Dean told triple j's Concetta & Luka.

"I'm hyped! It's like I've had a shot of espresso now."

Speaking after being crowned in the pole position, the British artist was calling down the line from Berlin.

"Should I go to Berghain now to celebrate? I’m going to the club for you Australia.

'Let me in, I’m number one!'

"I feel like this song only just came into my life recently, so to have it be everywhere, it’s changed my life. No other song has done what this song has done and I’m really grateful."

Man I Need is still Dean's favourite song to perform live. "It just has some magic in it. I was always waiting for a song like this to have… [To make] people dance and also feel empowered as well."

It marks five total appearances from Olivia Dean in the countdown today, marking her first appearance in the Hottest 100 after releasing her second album The Art of Loving.

"How could you predict anything like this? I knew I just wanted to make an album that was real and authentic to me. To have everyone else love it on top of that? Can’t ask for more."

After beginning her 2025 touring Australia as part of Laneway Festival, Dean "can't wait to come back and play more shows".

She returns in October for a headline tour that's now officially become a victory lap. Get all the details here:

That's it! It's all over!

Just as soon as it begun, the Hottest 100 of 2025 is over!

We'll be sticking around for just a little longer, so drop any thoughts or feelings you might have in the comments!

Give it up for Olivia Dean!

She was hotly tipped to take the top spot... lo and behold: Olivia Dean has given us the Hottest Song of 2025, Man I Need.

This classy earworm is a stand-out from the 26-year-old British artist’s terrific second album The Art of Loving, which “has all the hooky pleasure of commercial pop but few of the cliches”.

Man I Need was a lock for my voting list… and clearly in plenty of yours, too! It was a certified hit even before it reached the top of charts across the globe, and now the Hottest 100.

The track’s shimmying piano and swinging rhythm was inspired by Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel.

But it hits with all the fizz of Whitney Houston’s peppiest anthems. Despite the breezy execution, the song’s instructive lyric about fearlessly asking for what you romantically deserve resonates just as strongly as its classic arrangement and Dean’s voice.

In short, it’s an instantly charming hit. And as is triple j tradition, let's hear it played out on the airwaves one more time.

#1: Olivia Dean — Man I Need
Love wins!

Incredible moment from inside triple j HQ between Keli Holiday and partner Abbie Chatfield after finding out he's taken the #2 spot!

“I want to weep, I feel so so happy right now, it’s beautiful," Keli said.

“[Dancing2] taught me that love will always rein supreme and that loving is the most beautiful thing we can do”
