Trump says Iran cannot 'blackmail us' with Strait of Hormuz threats

US President Donald Trump has been taking questions on Iran at the White House, telling reporters "very good conversations are going on".

Trump says "they wanted to close up the Strait again", adding Iran cannot "blackmail us" with Strait of Hormuz threats.

He finished by saying "We will have some information by the end of the day. We're talking to them."

Tehran reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz earlier today.

Maritime agency says a cargo vessel has been attacked near Strait of Hormuz

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency says it has received a report of a container ship being hit by an unknown projectile 25 nautical miles northeast of Oman.

The attack caused damage to some containers on board, but there are no immediate reports of casualties.

Earlier, the UKMTO said a tanker was fired at in the same area.

No date set for next round of Iran-US talks: Iran deputy FM

No date has been set for the next round of Iran–US peace talks brokered by Pakistan following the failure of an initial round, according to  Iran's deputy foreign minister said on Saturday.

"Until we agree on the framework, we cannot set a date," Saeed Khatibzadeh told journalists on the sidelines of an annual diplomatic forum in Turkey's southern Antalya province.

"We hope that as soon as we can finalise that, then we can move on to the next step."

Macron: French soldier was killed in Lebanon

President Emmanuel Macron says a French soldier who was part of international forces stationed in southern Lebanon has been killed.

In a post on X, he says three other soldiers were wounded and have been evacuated.

The soldiers were part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), a peacekeeping mission in the country's south and the patrol had been clearing explosive ordnance.

President Macron says:

"Everything suggests that responsibility for this attack lies with Hezbollah".

Macron is urging the Lebanese government to act against the alleged perpetrators.

UNIFIL says in a separate statement:

"UNIFIL condemns this deliberate attack on peacekeepers engaged in their mandated tasks."

US forces turn 23 vessels back to Iran, enforcing blockade, military says

The US military says since the United States imposed a blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas, 23 ships have complied with US forces orders to turn back toward Iran.

Lebanon PM says French UN peacekeepers attacked, orders investigation

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam says members of the French contingent of the UN peacekeeping force UNIFIL have come under attack in southern Lebanon.

In a post on X, he says he's ordered an immediate investigation into the incident, on Saturday.

Iran's navy tells ships on radio that Strait of Hormuz is shut again, shipping sources say

Earlier we told you that Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz.

Now shipping sources say some merchant vessels have received a radio message from Iran's navy that the Strait of Hormuz is shut again — and no ships are allowed to pass through.

Statement from supreme leader says Iran's navy 'stands ready' to defeat US

In a defiant message, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei says Iran's navy is ready to inflict "new bitter defeats" on its enemies.

Khamenei has not been seen in public since before the start of the war.
