Robertson says he hopes he is scrutinised as much as any other All Blacks coach, but knows it will be different to what he experienced as Crusaders coach.

'I've got to own it... that's the biggest thing.'

Robertson says having referees involved in camp is important to ensure they are on the same page in terms of application of rugby's laws.

The All Blacks coach says success to him looks like a team he coaches that can win any test in front of them.

Robertson says Sotutu is still in the picture and 'he knows' there's an opportunity for him to make his way into the squad.

Also mentions that Ricky Riccitelli was very close.

Robertson players like Cortez Ratima reminds him of a Tawera Kerr-Barlow and has really impressed him.

TJ Perenara is playing 'some footy at the moment' though, he says.

Says he's 'a bit sick' of seeing himself on TV in a new doco that has come out recently on TVNZ.

On his nickname, he says in a match in his playing days against the Brumbies a big hit 'cut' his opposition in half.

'The old Razor blade' cut him in half.

On tests in South Africa: says it will be a special couple of weeks. Recalls watching early morning tests in the past and says he and the squad are really looking forward to the trip.

Listener asks whether Robertson sees merit in the Springboks packing their bench with forwards.

'Jason Ryan probably wants it' - says Robertson. He is mindful of stacking too many forwards and then having an issue with lack of backs on the bench.
