That concludes our coverage. What a day for Rory McIlroy. From the double bogey at the first, his chip at three and the second birdie at four, the approaches at seven and nine, almost going in the water at 11 then finding the water at 13, his stunning approaches at 15 and 17, to missing the green with wedge at 18 and then the five-footer to win it at the 72nd hole. Talk about a roller-coaster. To go through all that and then win a playoff shows how great he is mentally in this game.
Many expected it to be a duel between McIlroy and Bryson and it looked to be over the first four holes but DeChambeau lost his way. And out of nowhere came Justin Rose. The first and second round leader with a 66 to share the lead, 10 birdies on the day and lost in a playoff for the second time. His third second placing at Augusta, and his second straight runner-up placing at a Major after finishing two shots behind Xander at Royal Troon last year.
What a way to start the majors in 2025. Will be interesting to see how Rory goes after finally getting that green jacket and first major since 2014. He could go on a run now.
