Tavatavanawai hoists the Dave Gallaher Trophy, he'll remember his first test, that's for sure.

"It's awesome to see the boys come in and be themselves. It's up to us leaders to give them space to grow and get a feel of the environment.

"They've done that with both hands. It's awesome to see them take the opportunities."

"It's always good to come to Wellington, the boys fronted up in the game to get the W," he told Sky Sport.

"This week, we talked about our defence. We were wanting to bring fire. In most parts of the game, we did that.

"Credit to the French, they never give up, they're always there. I'm proud of our boys."
